Rotary Food Drive Saturday, April 26

Saturday, April 26

The days are getting longer, golf courses are open, birds are singing and the 34th bi-annual returns to Kamloops – all great signs that spring has sprung! Please have your Rotary collection bags packed and ready for pickup in your communities by 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, as we strive to create a hunger-free community.

Over the years of the food bank, we have been fortunate enough to receive 1.6 million pounds of food donations! We are excited to see what our community has in store for us this year. Participation has never been easier.

  • Canada Post will begin delivering Rotary branded paper bags the week of April 21
  • Please fill these bags with as many non-perishable food items as you wish
  • Our incredible team of Rotarian volunteers will canvas the city on Saturday, April 26
  • To ensure your bag gets collected, please have it placed outside of your front door by 9 a.m.

Examples of non-perishable donations:

  • Canned food (without severely dented cans)
  • Dry pasta/rice
  • Cereal
  • Crackers
  • Peanut butter
  • Protein/granola bars
  • Beans
  • Instant noodles

If for some reason your bag gets missed or you forget to put it outside by 9 a.m., there are options to still get your donation into the Kamloops Food Bank:

  • Drop it off before 2 p.m. at the Kamloops Food Bank’s 156 Wilson Street location
  • Drop your donation in the red collection barrels at your local grocery store

We are very thankful for our sponsors, the United Steel Workers and McDonalds, for keeping our team of wonderful volunteers hydrated and well fed all day.
For more information about the food drive, please check out our social media channels or check us out on CFJC Midday with Tanya Cronin on April 25.
